Body and mind are interconnected and they both have a fundamental role in optimal sport performance. Most training methods focus only on the physical and technical aspects and do not consider the mental preparation. Sport Mental Coaching is the key to fill this gap. Being able to connect to your purpose, deal with your emotions and thoughts, handle pressure, overcome difficult situations and bringing your unique set of abilities and resources fully in play, are all crucial for achieving success on and off the court.
Coaching is a partnership in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires you to maximise your potential. It stimulates your reflection by powerful questioning, raises your awareness and responsibility that are essentials for improving performance. Awareness helps to move away from judgment and fault finding to description and objectivity and enables us to choose our responses in certain situations rather than reacting. Coaching is focusing on development and sustainable change and it can also be used to address a specific challenge you face. It helps to recognise and overcome inner blocks like fear, doubt and limiting beliefs that are often preventing us from expressing our real potential. For all the above mentioned reasons Sport Mental Coaching is a potential differentiator between average and outstanding performance.
A Mental Coach can be engaged directly by the athlete (by parents if U18) or by its club. In all cases it is important to define how these people are involved and interact without hurting confidentiality in the coaching relationship. By including also the head coach we make sure that all the involved people are aligned, and share the goals and objectives agreed upon at the beginning and the results at the end of the coaching journey.
I grew up in Hungary and as a teenager I dedicated all my time and energy to the game I love: basketball. In 2008 I moved to Italy to attend University and priorities changed. I never stopped practicing sports, but my focus shifted on building my professional career in project management. In 2019 I decided to attend an ICF accredited coaching school as part of my own personal development, following the advice of a good friend. After my exam I was lucky enough to receive a request from 2 athletes to partner up and start a collaboration. They just signed their first professional contract and wanted to work on several different areas to optimise their performance. During our sessions I realised that this activity brings me such a high level of personal fulfilment that I have never experienced before. Seeing the athletes ‘enlightened’ after some sessions and being able to follow their own evolution is really special. So a big project started to get shape in my head, the one to create my profession that combines my passion for sports and coaching and lets me contribute to the personal and professional growth of the others. I started to work on the idea, specialised myself further for sports and at the end of 2021 I left my corporate career to dedicate myself completely to Sport Mental Coaching and help athletes unblocking their real potential and supporting them on their path of achieving their biggest dreams.
The coaching begins by setting a goal. I support you to set goals that are inspirational, challenging and at the same time aligned with your individual purpose and personal values. Defining an ultimate goal is important for your long-term vision which is also supported by smaller performance goals, that are in your direct control.
Our perception of reality can be distorted by our opinions and beliefs, if we cannot recognise them and compensate for their effects. Awareness is perceiving things as they really are and it is empowering because we have the measure of choice and control over what we are aware of. Internal awareness increases body efficiency, releases tensions and improves performance.
Moving from being stuck in a problem to future solutions by turning the coaching conversation into action. I support you to define your own actions, timeframes and way of measuring your achievements. We also set up a feedback loop to create the conditions for continuous learning, that is key to performance improvement.
